The Kapas–Marang Swimathon stands as Malaysia’s most iconic open-water challenge —a 6.5KM swim across the crystalline channel separating Pulau Kapas and Marang, Terengganu. Each year, hundreds of swimmers take on the open sea, guided only by the horizon and their own determination.
What began as a local tradition has evolved into a national open-water benchmark, attracting elite athletes, recreational swimmers, and international participants who come to experience Malaysia’s proudest swim.
The course demands more than speed — it calls for courage, focus, and respect for the ocean. Supported by professional safety teams, ILS-certified rescuers, and expert navigation crews, every stroke embodies resilience and the will to finish strong.
